Vertical blinds are generally fitted inside the window recess. The size which we need to make the blinds to the correct size is the overall recess width and drop, unless you want your blind to be an exact width and drop - Show your size as ‘recess’ on the order form - we will make the necessary deductions from this to allow for free movement of the blind. We suggest that you take the width measurement at the very top of the recess - where the headrail of the blind will fit, to allow for any slight variations in the width further down the window. The recess drop should be taken in 3 places (each side and in the centre of the window) and the shortest measurement used. We prefer the measurements in millimetres if possible please.
The only time the full recess width is not used is where more than 1 blind is being fitted to a conservatory or bay window. In these cases a deduction needs to be made from the overall size to allow for correct fitting. The correct way to fit blinds into a corner is as shown below

For a right angled corner, Blind A is measured to fit to the end of the recess. To enable Blind B to be fitted butting up to Blind B as shown 95mm needs to be deducted from the recess size. Order the blinds as recess size.
For angled corners other than 90 degrees, the easiest way is to cut some strips of card to 95mm in length and place them on the window sill as shown, you can then measure where shown. Order the blinds as recess size
If you know the exact size you want your blind please show ‘exact’ on the order form. Your blind will then be made to the exact width and drop you give without deductions
STACKING ARRANGEMENTS AND CONTROLS
Your blind will have a pull cord for moving the louvres backwards and forwards across the window and a chain for tilting the windows through 180 degrees, these must both be located on the same side of the blind. The options for stacking arrangements and control side are as shown below. (Please note control and draw sides are as viewed from the inside of the room

BRACKETS
As standard your blind will be supplied with a top fixing spring bracket for fitting inside a recess. This is fixed by drilling up into the lintel. If you are fitting to a window with out a recess (ie a conservatory) you will need face fix brackets. Please request these on the order form and the correct quantity will be sent with your blind

LOUVRE WIDTH
There are generally 2 different louvre widths 5” (127mm) and 3.5” (89mm). Both louvre widths are available at the same price - we don’t charge extra for 3.5”. From experience we would suggest that the smaller 3.5” louvres are generally much more pleasing on the eye.
